Hello,

On March 14th, 2018, Amazon Retail Analytics (ARA) will have a single, unif=
ied website for both ARA Basic and ARA Premium. This new site launched in f=
all 2017 for ARA Premium subscribers, and now offers an enhanced experience=
by increasing speed, reliability and usability for all ARA users.

ARA Basic users will continue to have the same level of access as they did =
in the old website, but we've redesigned the report structure to ensure tha=
t reports go beyond plain data points and provide ARA Basic users with more=
actionable information. ARA Premium members will continue to have access t=
o additional features like: historical data access, email scheduling, geogr=
aphic sales, real-time sales, Amazon search terms, and customer behavior re=
ports.

Both ARA Basic and ARA Premium users can access the new site here: https://=
arap.amazon.com

You can also find a map of the metrics that are currently available on the =
new site here: https://arap.amazon.com/metriclocator

What is changing for ARA Premium Users?

- For ARA Premium Users the key change is the addition of the manufacturing=
/sourcing view delineation and the enhanced Forecasting Report (more detail=
s outlined below)
- ARA Premium users will not have to take any action because they were alre=
ady migrated to the enhanced website in 2017

What is changing for ARA Basic Users?

- ARA Basic Users with internal reporting tools designed to work with the o=
ld ARA Basic site's reports will need to adjust those to align with the new=
report structure on the new unified site
- The Forecasting Report change will be one of the key changes during this =
launch

ARA Basic can be accessed from both the old and new sites for 30 days after=
the launch of the unified ARA site, and users may switch from one to the o=
ther. After 30 days, the old ARA Basic site will be deprecated and no longe=
r accessible.

Forecasting Report Metric Changes:

The Forecast Report is being revamped as part of this launch. Similar to th=
e current Forecast Report, it will only be available to manufacturers, not =
distributors.

Why are we updating the forecast?

Historically, ARA Basic and ARA Premium offered different demand forecast m=
etrics, which created a disjointed experience for vendors using both produc=
ts. Based on vendor feedback, we are now unifying the forecast metrics show=
n in both products. Secondly, this report will provide a forecast signal cl=
ose to our customer demand, making it easier for you to provide reliable su=
pply.

What is the change?

The new ARA forecast report will display Amazon's weekly forecast estimate =
that is closest to our actual customer demand for a rolling 26 weeks. It wi=
ll not include Amazon's safety stock allowance like the previous forecast s=
ignal. It will also give you the ability to view/download other forecast co=
nfidence levels (P-level, explained in the next question, mean, P70, P80 an=
d P90 will all be available). Our confirmation rate expectation will contin=
ue to be 100%.

The forecast values are estimates of projected customer demand and not that=
of the orders Amazon will place to you. This is the best estimation of the=
customer demand that we can provide and should be used as a guideline for =
planning your inventory. You need to apply safety stock requirement guideli=
nes on top of this forecast as it does not account for Amazon's safety stoc=
k.

What is a P-level?

P-level stands for probability level (it is similar to confidence interval =
in a bell curve). The P-level depicts the estimated stock to carry to satis=
fy customer demand with x% probability of success. For example:

- P80 indicates the stock level that will satisfy customer demand with 80% =
probability
- If the forecast at P90 is say 500 units, the probability of the demand be=
ing less than or equal to 500 is 90%. This also means that there is a 10% p=
robability that the customer demand will be more than 500 units

The higher the P-level, the more inventory you will have to carry to satisf=
y customer demand at a higher probability level.

How to use P-levels

- You can use the mean forecast if your planning horizon is longer (like ca=
ses where the planning horizon is greater than 6 weeks), keeping in mind th=
at this forecast value does not include Amazon's safety stock
- You can use the P70, P80 or P90 forecast depending on your risk tolerance=
based on your product profile, planned promotions, seasonality and the len=
gth of planning horizon
- You can also consult with your Amazon Retail partner/In-Stock Manager as =
well as your internal sales and marketing teams when deciding which P-level=
 to use
